Giuliana Rose Bianchi

Giuliana was born on January 4, 2023.  Daughter of Daniela and Tony Bianchi, granddaughter of Louis & Francesca Ruggiero and niece to Vincenzo, Maria Van Gelder, Mick and Domenic Ruggiero. 

Domenic & Anaida Zinicola

Izzy Stassi

Congrats to Izzy Stassi, daughter of member Kelly Stassi and her husband, Vito, as she participated in her first National Team selection camp for Pan Ams and competed in the American Classic. Izzy, she placed 2nd on vault, 3rd on floor, and 6th All-Around! Congrats, Izzy from the C.I.A.C. club, especially from your Nonno Nino Stassi!

Elaine C. Duke

Congratulations go out to Frank Costanzo's daughter, Elaine C. Duke, for President Bush's recent announcement to nominate her to be Under Secretary for Management at the Department of Homeland Security.  Prior to this announcement, she served as Chief Procurement Officer at the Department of Homeland Security.  Earlier in her career, she served as Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Transportation Security Administration.  Below please find the press release issued on April 2, 2008 by Michael Chertoff.

STATEMENT BY HOMELAND SECURITY SECRETARY MICHAEL CHERTOFF ON THE APPOINTMENT OF ELAINE C. DUKE AS CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Elaine Duke as Chief Procurement Officer for the Department of Homeland Security.  Elaine most recently served as acting chief, and before that as the department’s Deputy Chief Procurement Officer.

Elaine brings more than 24-years of federal contracting and procurement experience to the position.  She has held various positions at the Naval Sea Systems and Naval Facilities Engineering Commands, and previously served as the Deputy Director of Contracting and Property Management for the Smithsonian Institution and Director of Acquisition and Grant Services for the Federal Railroad Administration.

One of the department’s foremost responsibilities is stewardship of taxpayer dollars.  As chief, Elaine will oversee more than $11 billion in contracts and $12 billion in financial assistance programs and provide strategic direction to the department’s eight procurement organizations.  Elaine will further strengthen the department’s financial discipline and maximize budgets to mitigate risks, and I look forward to her continued service.

First scholarship winners

In 2007, the Circolo Italo Americano Corenese held its First Annual Reverse Raffle Scholarship Dinner Dance.  The proceeds from this event were going to be awarded in the form of scholarship to deserving students.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the students that participated in the program.  Following the submission of the required applications and essays, the 2008 winners were selected by a panel of respected professors, and the scholarships awarded on Saturday, April 19, at the Second Annual Reverse Raffle Scholarship Dance.  We would like to announce those winners below.

Annalisa Calez - She is the daughter of Teresa Parente-Calez and Tony Calez(deceased).  She is currently a student at St. Joseph Academy and plans to attend  college.

Anita Marie Fini - She is daughter of Antonietta and Pasquale Fini, and is currently a student at Padua Franciscan High School.

Maria Francesca Ruggiero - She is the daughter of Margherita & Domenico Ruggiero and is a student at Berea High School.  She plans to enroll in the Polaris Career Center Teaching Professions Program

Anna Tieri - She is the daughter of Giuseppina and Giuseppe Tieri.  She is currently a  student at Holy Name High School.

national soccer team

Congratulations go out to the Italian National Soccer Team after their World Cup victory over France. There were several locations across the city of Cleveland where loyal fans gathered to watch intently as the Italian Team one their fourth World Cup championship. To the right you will see one of those excited fans and our Club President, Tony Biasiotta, as Italy made their final penalty kicks. He has already begun to plan for the next World Cup. Giuseppe and Angela Del Vecchio

Congratulations to Giuseppe and Angela Del Vecchio on their recent wedding on Saturday, August 21, 2010.  God's blessings go out to the happy couple for a long and happy life together as well as the entire Del Vecchio and Papadatos families.  Giuseppe is the son of Nicola and Antonietta(DiSiena) Del Vecchio.
